A seeker's diary — Sahaj Chintan, natural reflection (from the author's other selected spiritual writings)

In this difficult fifth age, when the highest satsang and even ordinary satsang are so very hard to come by, a soul should stay in the longing of a pure heart for complete peace of the self, and should attend upon as much satsang as it can. That the living of one's fellow seekers, or of householder Gyanis, should be wholly auspicious is desirable enough; but a mumukshu should never insist upon it. Such insistence — obstinacy, rather — is itself a state of wrong belief, a relish for auspicious states, and the harm of it the soul will have to bear itself. Even the little satsang that is available will be lost. Whether another soul is in inauspicious states or in auspicious ones, the fruit of that is for that soul to bear. But the harm of losing satsang, which works for the soul's welfare, out of insistence upon the auspicious — that harm the soul will have to bear itself. Without fixing the aim of completeness, a soul does not get a true grip on what it is here for. Discernment does not wake; and so, again and again, being drawn into the occasions thrown up by the rising of karma, it loses discernment, and the harm goes so far that a human birth is squandered.
